D.Phil (summa cum laude) from the Philosophical Faculty at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (Germany), specialising in alcohol and drugs history, M.A. in North American Studies (history and cultural studies) from Freie Universität Berlin (Germany), B.A. in History and Politics from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom).
