BA Harvard (summa cum laude), doctorate Oxford (Rhodes Scholar). Associate in mergers and acquisitions (Goldman Sachs, London). Freelance investigative journalist since 1994. Articles published in the New Yorker, New York Times Magazine, National Geographic Magazine, Atlantic Monthly, and elsewhere. Books published by Penguin Random House and W W Norton, have appeared on the New York Times best-seller list.
