New Publication: AI-Ageing Assemblages: Multiplicity, Power, and Boundaries in the Co-Constitution of Ageing and Artificial Intelligence
Roger von Laufenberg published a new article together with Vera Gallistl from the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences on new ways of theorising the relationships between AI and ageing by viewing these relationships not as interventions but as assemblages. We highlight the manifold sociomaterial associations that exist between ageing and AI and empirically explore AI-ageing assemblages through data from a qualitative study that analysed the development, use, and implementation of AI in long-term care. The article draws on empirical research from the AlgoCare project and has been published in a special issue of the KZfSS Kölner Zeitschrift für Soziologie und Sozialpsychologie on "Sociology of Age and Ageing: Theoretical and Empirical Challenges (Re-)Visited" and is available as open access here: https://doi.org/10.1007/s11577-025-01010-3
